Jumpstart Devotion: Update From the Storm

As I sit down to write this devotion my heart is heavy with concern for our community. Last night in Smith County and surrounding communities were hit by a tornado that left destruction in its path. There have been many families who have lost loved ones and have had their lives turned up side down. Even in our church family we have had loss from last nights tornados. Ms. Theresa Holcomb and her mother lost their home, were transported to the hospital, released this morning, and are safe now staying with church family. Please be in prayer for them (Others may be affected that I am not aware of at this moment).

I am reminded of the lyrics from a Casting Crowns Song “Praise you in this Storm”

I’ll praise You in this storm
and I will lift my hands
That You are who You Are
No matter where I am.
And every tear I’ve cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm.

As our community accesses the aftermath of a tornado it is now time for us as a church to be the hands and feet of God.  Look for opportunities that are around you to be his loving arms to those who are in need.  Be in prayer for our first responders and those who are working to restore things back to normal.  I will send more updates as I receive them.

In Christ,
Bro. Ryan
