Following Christ

Welcome to the New Jump Start Devotions Blog.

It is our hope that these devotions will be a great way to start your week digging into God’s word. Look for new devotions weekly on Mondays at 8am.

Today’s Passage comes from Matthew 16:24

Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.” (NKJV)

God calls His disciples to take up their cross, lay down their lives, and follow Him. However, this goes against the self-centered nature of the modern world. God calls for us to surrender our will to pick up His will for our lives. He calls for us to lay down our desires to find His heart’s desires. Ultimately, He desires for us to glorify His name above all others. All that we do is to glorify God. Bro. Jeremiah’s question has rang in my heart today “What has it cost you?” Being a disciple cost us our life to find true life in Him. Throughout the week ponder the following questions.

  1. Have you fully surrendered your life to Jesus? If not what areas of your life do you need to give to him?
  2. Where is God calling for you to follow him?
  3. What steps can you take to be obedient to where God is calling for you to go?
  4. What can you do each day this week to help you surrender to God?
